Job Summary
Drive truck with capacity over 3 tons to specified destinations, applying commercial driving regulations and area road knowledge. Prepare receipts for loads, collect payment for goods and delivery charges, and maintain truck logs per state and federal regulations. Load and unload truck, inspect equipment including tires and brakes, and perform emergency roadside repairs like changing tires or installing light bulbs. Position blocks and tie rope to secure cargo during transit. Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor for delivery instructions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Certification License required
- 1 to 3 yrs. experience
- Read and interpret road maps
- Practice good safety habits
- Work in dusty or dirty surroundings
- Follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling
- Judge distances and weights accurately
- Make decisions based on verifiable standards
- Stoop, bend, and crouch
- Use hands, arms, and legs fully
- See well (either naturally or with correction)
- Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
