Job Summary
Conduct safe, timely delivery of building materials to customer locations and job sites, combining driving with hands-on loading, unloading, and securing of oversized loads. Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections per DOT/FMCSA regulations, plan routes accounting for traffic and weather, and maintain communication with dispatch regarding delays or status changes. Verify load accuracy, operate truck-mounted forklifts and material handling equipment, and obtain customer signatures and documentation using mobile applications. Ensure delivered materials are placed safely per jobsite requirements while representing QXO professionally. Maintain a clean vehicle, complete electronic logs accurately, and report maintenance concerns or safety incidents immediately.
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safe driving practices
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently while managing daily delivery schedules
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to operate mobile applications, GPS systems, and electronic delivery tools
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid CDL Class A license in good standing
- Clean driving record and ability to meet company driving requirements
- Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background requirements as applicable
- Primarily field-based with frequent driving throughout assigned service areas
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, traffic, construction sites, warehouses, and customer facilities
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, and enter or exit commercial vehicles
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds or more using proper lifting techniques
- Frequent use of load securement equipment, mobile technology, and material handling equipment
- May require overtime, weekend work, overnight travel, or flexible schedules based on operational needs
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred
- Experience operating flatbed trucks, tractor-trailers, manual transmissions, or oversized load vehicles preferred
- Experience operating truck-mounted forklifts (Moffett) or other material handling equipment is a plus
- Experience delivering building materials, construction products, trusses, wall panels, steel, rebar, roofing, or similar products preferred
