Conduct complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections to verify tire pressure, fluid levels, and safety equipment. Safely operate a collection truck along designated routes, reading route sheets and servicing customers as assigned by dispatchers. Perform manual and automatic controls to lift, load refuse, and operate compactors at disposal facilities. Identify unsatisfactory waste containers, tag them per departmental procedures, and clean spill areas while monitoring waste for unacceptable materials. Complete daily vehicle condition reports, route sheets, and productivity sheets to track performance and ensure compliance with safety policies. Maintain operational readiness by cleaning waste from packer blades and truck bodies on each trip.
