Job Summary
Safely transport building materials to customer locations and job sites while conducting thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections per DOT/FMCSA regulations. Plan delivery routes accounting for traffic and weather, maintain communication with dispatch, and obtain customer signatures and delivery confirmations. Verify load accuracy, secure materials using proper tie-down methods, and assist with loading, unloading, and touch-freight duties up to 75 pounds. Document discrepancies, report maintenance concerns immediately, and ensure compliance with all safety policies and company driving standards. Primarily field-based with frequent driving throughout assigned service areas, this role requires working in outdoor conditions and may involve overtime, weekend work, or overnight travel.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A or B license in good standing
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Clean driving record and ability to meet company driving requirements
- Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background requirements as applicable
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, and enter or exit commercial vehicles
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds or more using proper lifting techniques
- Must be available for overtime
- Must be available for weekend work
- Must be available for overnight travel
- Must be available for flexible schedules based on operational needs
- Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions
- Must be able to work at construction sites
- Must be able to work in warehouses
- Must be able to work at customer facilities
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred
- Experience operating flatbed trucks, tractor-trailers, manual transmissions, or oversized load vehicles preferred
- Forklift experience or ability to operate material handling equipment is a plus
- Experience delivering building materials, construction products, trusses, wall panels, steel, rebar, roofing, or similar products preferred
