Job Summary

Drive a straight truck or tractor-trailer to transport donated goods between Goodwill collection sites and stores. Operate the vehicle safely and efficiently while loading and unloading merchandise at attended donation centers, stores, and other locations. Report any vehicle problems or defects immediately and ensure compliance with DOT standards and regulations. Maintain good customer relations by servicing centers on time and acting courteously. Complete and submit the daily trip manifest upon returning to dispatch. Maintain a good driving record and possess a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License. Knowledge of Miami-Dade County roadways is necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of straight truck or tractor-trailer driving experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A Current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
  • Ryder Driver Certification
  • Must pass the DOT physical certification and be updated every two years
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Must be able to perform basic calculations
  • Organized, Dependable, and takes pride in the job
  • Responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions
  • Observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
  • Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions, keeps commitments, and commits to long work hours when necessary to reach goals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Maintains high standards of ethical conduct, exhibits honesty and integrity, and refrains from theft-related, dishonest, or unethical behavior

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear
  • Required to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with their hands and arms

  • Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Able to work in wet, humid, or hot conditions, depending on the weather
  • Possible exposure to vibration
  • Knowledge of Miami-Dade County roadways and areas is necessary

Desired Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or a GED is preferred, but not required
  • Spanish is a plus
