Job Summary
Operate directional drilling and locating equipment to drill predetermined bore paths while avoiding underground utilities. Load, unload, inspect, and maintain heavy machinery, support vehicles, and trailers. Read plans and specifications to execute projects accurately, assisting with conduit placement, potholing, and trench support. Coordinate field operations with supervisors and crew members while adhering to OSHA, ANSI, and company safety standards. Requires a valid driver's license, minimum one year of directional drilling experience, and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Travel potential is 10–25% for overnight site visits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Minimum 1 year of directional drilling or locating experience in underground utility construction
- Experience operating heavy equipment near active utilities
- Ability to safely operate drilling equipment and related heavy machinery
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
- Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and company safety regulations
- Knowledge of basic computer skills and shoring methods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods
- Work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment and machinery
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety boots, glasses, hardhat, and additional safety gear as required
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and MVR
Desired Qualifications
- CDL with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain
- DOT Medical Card or willingness to obtain
- Experience with Ditch Witch and Vermeer equipment
