Job Summary
Repair and maintain a hydraulic-suction cutterhead dredge, overseeing daily maintenance, inventory, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems. Monitor and document operating parameters including temperature and fluid levels, while completing daily maintenance logs and work orders. Collaborate with operators and management to ensure equipment readiness, assist in mobilizations and demobilizations, and perform miscellaneous labor duties. Work independently in and around water, handling De-gasser and booster pumps under all weather conditions. Requires 5–7 years of dredging experience, valid driver's license, and ability to work modified schedules up to 12 hours daily with occasional weekend work and out-of-town travel.
Required Qualifications
- 5 to 7 years of experience in the field of dredging, working as a dredge mechanic
- mechanically inclined
- good organizational skills
- basic knowledge of diesel and gasoline internal combustion engines
- some electrical knowledge and theory
- ability to trouble shoot, mechanical, electrical, pneumatics and hydraulic driven devices and related components
- ability to communicate well with the superintendent, dredge operator boat operators, and deck hands
- Must be motivated and able to work independently
- Must maintain a valid Driver's license
- Must be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet)
- Be honest, hardworking, reliable, punctual and attitude to get the job done
- Must be safety conscious and adhere to company safety policy
- Must wear the appropriate PPE as required
- Must be able to work a modified work schedule deemed necessary depending on the project
- Could also include working weekends
- Position will require out of town (Florida) travel for extended periods
- Must be able to work up to 8- 12 hours a day
Desired Qualifications
- Should have a basic knowledge of diesel and gasoline internal combustion engines and some electrical knowledge and theory is a plus
- Heavy equipment experience a plus
- OSHA Certifications a plus
- Boating or Equipment Certifications a plus
