Job Summary

ECLS Flight Controller for Dream Chaser spacecraft responsible for real-time thermal management and environmental control during mission operations. Monitor telemetry, execute nominal/contingency procedures, coordinate with ESR and other console positions, develop procedures and flight rules, and provide go/no-go recommendations. On-site at Louisville, CO with 24/7 rotating 9-hour shifts; requires strong collaboration, rigorous procedural discipline, and ability to operate under time pressure. Proficiency with Epsilon3, InControl, spacecraft thermodynamics, and environmental control systems is essential. Requires bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years of relevant experience; potential for Master’s degree preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. Security Clearance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters + 3 years experience)
  • Typically 5+ years of related experience in thermal systems, spacecraft operations, aerospace test operations, or related technical field (or Masters + 3 years of experience)
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermal control system principles
  • Knowledge of requirements management, system integration, verification/validation principles, and systems development lifecycle
  • Ability to analyze complex technical data and make sound decisions under time pressure in dynamic, real-time operations environments
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate technical issues to diverse audiences including Flight Director and Flight Control Team
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work rotating 9-hour shifts for 24/7 mission coverage; on-site presence at Louisville, CO required during missions
  • FAA medical screening requirements via certified Aviation Medical Examiner

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermal control system principles
  • Experience with spacecraft telemetry analysis and real-time decision-making under time pressure
  • Proficiency with command and control systems (InControl or similar) and procedure execution platforms (Epsilon3 or similar)
  • Ability to develop, review, and implement flight rules, go/no-go decisions, and operational procedures
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams (EPS, AVIONICS, MECH, PROP) and coordinating with engineers
  • FAA medical screening requirements via Aviation Medical Examiner
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Security Clearance
