Job Summary
The Draughtsperson plays a critical role in delivering complex heavy engineering projects by creating precise 2D and 3D engineering drawings. This role requires strong technical judgment, drafting expertise, and an understanding of engineering principles. The Draughtsperson collaborates with engineers and project teams to develop fabrication and installation drawings, ensuring compliance with standards and safety regulations. Essential skills include proficiency in CAD software, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication. A Diploma or Certificate in a relevant discipline is required, with an emphasis on a strong foundation of technical knowledge and practical experience.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Drafting, or a related technical discipline essential.
- An undergraduate degree in engineering or a related field, combined with broad and relevant industry experience, is highly regarded.
Desired Qualifications
- Proven experience in heavy engineering, fabrication, mining, power generation, oil & gas, or industrial construction environments.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor or similar) for 2D and 3D environments.
- Demonstrated experience producing detailed fabrication and construction-ready drawings.
- Solid knowledge of relevant engineering standards, codes, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
