Drainage/Water Resources Engineer

Job Summary
Lead a team of engineers and drafters while coordinating with subconsultants, clients, and outside agencies on state-wide transportation infrastructure projects. Prepare design calculations and technical reports for drainage studies, develop plans, profiles, specifications, and estimates, and assist with proposal and contract preparation. Assist in the development of junior staff and participate in quality control/quality assurance processes. Maintain client relationships and ensure all work adheres to Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois Tollway policies. Requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, an Illinois PE license, and 6+ years of experience in drainage studies and water resources design.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within six (6) months
- 6+ years of progressive experience in drainage studies and water resources design for transportation infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois Tollway policies, standards and procedures
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Bentley products (Microstation/GEOPAK/ORD, ProjectWise, StormCAD), Bluebeam Revu, and Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling
- Ability to work independently and take the initiative to perform tasks
- Good decision-making skills, flexibility, focus on quality, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
- experience working on transportation projects in Illinois, preferably for IDOT and the Illinois Tollway, with direct involvement in stormwater components such as storm sewer, detention/retention basins, culverts, roadside ditches, and stormwater quality best management practices (BMPs)
