Job Summary
Produce accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D models for structural welding projects, translating design concepts into compliant technical documentation for fabrication and installation. Interpret blueprints and engineering inputs to create precise assembly drawings, then coordinate revisions and maintain version control based on feedback. Collaborate with engineers and shop teams to clarify design intent, perform measurements from field data, and prepare documentation packages for project handover. This stable, permanent role offers hands-on involvement from initial concept through to fabrication in a Tulsa structural welding shop.
Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and detailing within construction or fabrication environments
- Demonstrated experience producing construction drawings and detailing for structural or welding-related projects
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
- Proven capability in precision measurement and dimensioning to support accurate fabrication
- Experience managing technical documentation and revision control in a production or project setting
- Familiarity with structural welding shop practices and workflows
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work to tight tolerances and project deadlines
- Formal training or certification in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software
Desired Qualifications
- Additional coursework or certification in structural drafting, construction technology, or welding design
- Relevant on-the-job experience in a structural welding shop or construction drafting role
- Experience with 3D modeling and visualization tools beyond AutoCAD (e.g., Revit, Inventor, or similar)
- Background in structural steel detailing or related construction drafting disciplines
- Knowledge of industry standards for welded structures and fabrication processes
- Prior experience liaising directly with clients or field teams to clarify design and drawing requirements
