Job Summary
Use CAD software to create detailed drawings for buildings and interiors from architect rough sketches, organizing civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical designs. Study building codes and regulations to determine their impact on architectural plans, then visit job sites to gather data for foundation and structure drawings. Calculate material quantities and generate cost estimates, contracts, and project documents in collaboration with architects. Requires an associate's degree in drafting, three years of related experience, and extensive CAD knowledge.
