Job Summary

Manage assigned drafting projects from turnover through completion while meeting established schedules, labor estimates, and quality standards. Review architectural drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and project scope to identify drafting requirements and potential conflicts. Prepare complete shop drawings, fabrication drawings, takeoffs, bills of material, material orders, and product releases. Develop and maintain project drafting schedules, distribute work, and monitor progress for assigned activities. Coordinate drafting activities with Project Management, Engineering, Field Operations, Manufacturing, and Purchasing teams. Provide technical guidance and constructive feedback to less experienced drafters and outsourcing partners. Review work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Kovach standards, confirming that redlines and design revisions are properly incorporated. Maintain organized project files and resolve routine technical issues while escalating complex design or contractual concerns. Apply lessons learned to improve drafting quality and workflow.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience independently managing drafting projects from initiation through completion
  • Ability to prepare complete shop drawings, fabrication drawings, takeoffs, bills of material, and product releases
  • Ability to interpret complex architectural drawings, engineering documents, specifications, and project requirements
  • Experience developing project schedules and monitoring progress against deadlines and labor estimates
  • Strong understanding of drafting review and quality-control processes
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with project, field, engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing teams
  • Ability to lead project work and provide technical direction without formal supervisory authority
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven project environment
  • AutoCAD or comparable computer-aided drafting software
  • Shop and fabrication drawing preparation
  • Bills of material, takeoffs, material orders, and product releases
  • Construction drawings and specifications
  • Drawing review and quality-control processes
  • Project scheduling and progress tracking
  • Microsoft Office and project collaboration software
  • Architectural enclosure systems, fabrication processes, and installation practices

Desired Qualifications

  • An associate degree, technical certificate, or coursework in Drafting Technology, Architectural Drafting, Computer-Aided Design, Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or a related field
  • An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and directly applicable drafting or construction experience
  • Revit knowledge
