Job Summary
Drafter/AutoCAD Professional develops complete layouts and engineering drawings for equipment such as rack and component assemblies, schematics, interconnect diagrams, and cable lists from notes or general instructions. Uses CAD to create and modify drawings, reviews designs for adherence to specifications, and updates CAD models per Engineering Change Notices. Performs arithmetic computations, sets scaling, reference planes, centering, dimension lines, hidden lines, and sectioning. Verifies dimensions, materials, and quantities in others’ drawings for accuracy and completeness. Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance. Based in Colorado Springs with no travel required, the role emphasizes accuracy, detail, and collaboration within an engineering team.
Required Qualifications
- Typically has a University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience
- minimum 5 years of related work experience
- minimum 3 years training and experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other drafting application
- minimum 5 years experience in design/drawing development for construction, conversion or overhaul/repair of electrical, mechanical or structural equipment
- at least 2 years checking Engineering drawings in Structural, Electrical, Mechanical or Combat Systems Engineering
