Job Summary
Monitor sifting processes, weighing lines, and bulk unloading operations to ensure raw materials are processed to correct particle size specifications. Verify material types and lot numbers, vacuum bags to prevent contaminants, and operate hoists to transfer raw materials from warehouse into hoppers and bulk silos. Perform Cilas machine particle size tests on samples, input data into information systems, and notify supervisors if results fall outside specifications. Build, remove, and replace sifter screens; manage dust collectors and weighing silo magnets; and prepare transport setups for Technical Leader approval. Conduct system checks for railcar transfers, regulate blower and railcar pressures, and perform proper shut-down procedures. Work the C shift (7:30pm–7:45am) on a 4-on-4-off rotation with no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 6 month manufacturing/warehousing experience or equivalent
- CRC Bronze or above
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must be able to successfully complete all required job training
- Must successfully pass scheduled testing for respirator fitting and spirometry
- Safety shoes must be worn while on NGK property
- Hearing protection and safety glasses are required in designated areas
- Respirators are required in designated areas or under prescribed work conditions
- Regularly scheduled testing is performed for: lung capacity (i.e. spirometry test), hearing, and respirator fit
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Production Technician program completion
- Basic MS Windows software skills
- Forklift License and Pallet Jack License
