Job Summary
DP Systems Offshore Field Service Engineer responsible for independently installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems, sensors, and marine propulsion controls at offshore locations. Responsibilities span office technical support (DP software, Linux, networks, documentation) and on-site field service (installation, verification, calibration of DP sensors, system integration, sea trials, FMEA, and class verification). Lead training for vessel personnel; coordinate with third-party vendors and system integrators; generate detailed service reports and keep project documentation up to date. Maintain quality per ISO-9001/HSE standards, and travel internationally up to 50%+ to client sites. Required technical qualifications include an Associate’s degree (or equivalent), 3+ years of DP/automation experience, Linux and IP networking proficiency, and the ability to work in offshore environments; preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience, plus programming familiarity and strong client-facing skills.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (AAS) in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3+ years' field service experience with DP systems, automation, or control systems within a marine or offshore environment
- Hands-on experience with DP-related equipment such as gyros, GPS, MRUs, radar, etc.
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and IP networking protocols
- Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel extensively (50%+), including international assignments; field work may last over two weeks
- Manual dexterity for handling tools and instrumentation
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate vessel environments, including ladders and confined spaces
