Job Summary
Classroom Para Educators provide instructional assistance and classroom support to students in Springfield Public Schools, including direct instruction support, preparation of instructional materials, behavior management, supervision on field trips, and collaboration with school staff to create an inclusive educational environment. The role requires a high-school diploma or GED and 60 college credits or an Associate’s Degree (or equivalent qualifying assessments), is supported by a robust benefits package, and involves working across varied educational settings (including SEBS, LINKS, and autism supports) to meet diverse student needs. Required Qualifications
- A high-school diploma or GED
- Sixty (60) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate’s Degree, or a passing score on ParaPro Assessment or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants
- Current authorization to work in the United States by first day of employment
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and maintain calm under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to implement instructional strategies and prepare instructional materials
- Ability to supervise and manage student behavior
- Experience supporting direct instruction in small groups and classrooms
- Experience assisting with classroom activities and support services
- Knowledge of life skills, developmental classrooms, SEBS, LINKS (Autism) program, and related supports
