Donor Specialist (Rio Grande Valley, TX)

Approach and educate medically competent military members, veterans, and their families regarding brain donation at the time of death, including facilitating informed consent processes. Lead community partner engagement by building relationships with healthcare facilities, medical examiner offices, and funeral homes to strengthen outreach initiatives. Coordinate with local coroners and medical examiners to screen donors, verify identity, and facilitate tissue recovery while maintaining chain of custody documentation. Perform ancillary duties in mortuaries and facilities, including sectioning and processing tissue according to project protocols and preparing specimens for shipping. Work on-call rotations that include nights, weekends, and holidays, often in solo roles with discretion required in sensitive environments.
