Job Summary

Conduct donor registration, interviews, and phlebotomies including Whole Blood and Apheresis collections. Perform physical assessments for blood pressure, temperature, and hematocrit; prepare pre-donation samples and blood units for laboratory transport. Monitor donor recovery and manage adverse reactions while maintaining equipment and supply quality control. Accurately complete documentation for donors, procedures, and cleaning records. Recruit donors for Blood Bank programs and special events. Work at various draw locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Current California Driver's license
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Ability to drive a standard passenger vehicle
  • Knowledge of basic computer operation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to follow procedure
  • Good accuracy with attention to detail
  • Basic math skills (related to determining donor eligibility, recognition, and draw information)
  • Ability to work with blood
  • Ability to function as a team member
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Must be able to perform successful venipunctures
  • Must be available for different draw locations as needed
  • Must undergo a pre-employment drug test

Desired Qualifications

  • One to two years' customer service experience
  • Medical Assistant Diploma
  • Certified Nursing Assistant Diploma
  • Emergency Medical Technician Certificate
  • Phlebotomy Certificate
  • Similar military experience/certification
