Job Summary
Donor Specialist will provide customer-focused donor services including registration, donor interviews, phlebotomy for Allogeneic/Directed Whole Blood collections, and monitoring donor recovery with adverse reaction care. Responsibilities include preparing pre-donation samples, performing tests (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, hematocrit/hemoglobin), documenting donor procedures and QC activities, and actively recruiting for Blood Bank Programs (e.g., Apheresis) and promotions. Will work at multiple draw locations, ensure proper preparation and transport of blood units, and maintain equipment/supplies with daily QC and documentation. Requires the ability to perform successful venipunctures, lift up to 30 pounds, drive a vehicle, and maintain confidentiality, with a focus on excellent customer service and teamwork in a laboratory/medical environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- EMT/Medical Assistant/Nursing Assistant/Phlebotomy certificates or similar military experience/certification (if applicable)
- Current CPR Certification
- Current California Driver’s license
- 1-2 years customer service experience preferred
- Ability to perform successful venipunctures
- Ability to lift 30 pounds
- Basic math skills
- Ability to work with blood
- Knowledge of basic computer operation
- Confidentiality
- Quality Control experience preferred
