Donor Relations Director - 11-145 - SC/ Orange County Pool

Job Summary

Establish and execute a caseload communications plan to solicit gifts of $5,000 and higher from 125–150 major donors, including personalized visits, proposals, and site tours. Lead one-to-one solicitation and stewardship while developing team strategies for peer-to-peer cultivation with leadership volunteers. Collaborate with officers, finance, and program staff to align donor interests with Army resource needs and present funding opportunities. Maintain donor profiles in the Portfolio database, track activity metrics, and input contact reports to the Blackbaud CRM system. Travel regularly to engage prospects and facilitate briefings by Army leaders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a non-profit fundraising role
  • Proven track record of major gifts success
  • Effective interpersonal, conversational and presentation skills
  • Demonstrating emotional intelligence
  • Situational awareness
  • Excellent writing abilities
  • Strong case development and pitching skills
  • Proven expertise in developing and maintaining positive relationships with diverse individuals, including executives, leadership volunteers and wealthy donors
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with officers, staff and volunteers
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of organization
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Professionalism and grace

  • Knowledge of Salvation Army protocols

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • BA in similar or related field or a minimum of two years in fundraising or fundraising management
  • Proven track record in major gift solicitation and major donor cultivation
  • Experience in high-end donor cultivation strategies
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • People oriented, self-starter
  • Results oriented
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of The Salvation Army and Its programs
  • Driving Test and clean MVR check (if applicable)
  • Criminal background check certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures (if working in vicinity of children)
