Job Summary
Collect lifesaving blood donations at fixed site locations by personally connecting with volunteer donors, listening to their stories, and ensuring they feel comfortable returning. Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment while following all safety procedures to meet regulatory requirements for transfusion. Maintain detailed orientation throughout shifts to ensure every collection meets goals and standards. This role requires a valid driver's license, customer service experience, and the ability to work variable hours including weekends and holidays. The American Red Cross provides paid phlebotomy training for candidates with no prior medical experience, offering a career path within the nation's top humanitarian network.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Minimum of one year customer service experience in public setting
- A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs
- Good manual dexterity
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Adaptability to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes
- Basic computer skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft office applications
- Variable hours 4 x 10 hour shifts
- Weekends are required
- Early mornings
- Late nights
- Holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Phlebotomy experience
- Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
- Prior leadership experience
