Donation Acquisition Specialist

Job Summary
Drop off mobile donation trailers at scheduled locations, complete box truck pickups and drop-offs for community drives, and provide onsite assistance at Rochester ADC locations. Inspect trailers for safety and operational readiness, load and unload donated goods, and maintain accurate logs for routes and mileage. When not driving, assist with donation acceptance, customer service, book processing, and workspace organization while reinforcing donation guidelines. Ensure sites have necessary supplies, communicate operational issues to management, and coordinate daily priorities with the Donation Acquisition Manager. Operate all vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to traffic laws while collaborating with ADC staff to support donation growth.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience in warehouse, logistics, donation processing, or retail operations
- Experience working directly with customers, donors, or the public
- Valid Class A driver's license
- Pass a LENS certification
- Clean driving record
- Ability to safely operate a truck and trailer, including backing, maneuvering, and towing
- Ability to travel between locations for work-related duties, meetings, and operational support
- Ability to move donations, supplies, and equipment
- Ability to climb or balance on step stools or ladders
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when positioning trailers or organizing workspaces
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, twist, and turn while evaluating donations, loading/unloading materials, or transferring items from bins to processing areas
- Ability to tag merchandise or complete tasks requiring the use of one or both hands for extended periods
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages when completing mileage logs, fuel tracking, load counts, and basic operational reporting
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to weight limits, load distribution, and safe trailer/box truck operation
- Must be able to travel between locations for work-related duties, meetings, and operational support
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to bend, twist, and turn while evaluating donations, loading/unloading materials, or transferring items from bins to processing areas
- Must be able to tag merchandise or complete tasks requiring the use of one or both hands for extended periods
- Must have a valid Class A driver's license
- Must be able to safely operate a truck and trailer, including backing, maneuvering, and towing
- Must maintain a clean driving record
- Must comply with all Goodwill and DOT driving standards
- Flexible scheduling is required, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- On-call availability is required for urgent trailer moves, special events, or operational needs
Desired Qualifications
- Coursework or certification in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or warehouse operations
- DOT-related safety training or completion of a defensive driving program
- 1–2 years of experience in driving box trucks, towing trailers, or performing transportation related duties
- Prior experience operating mobile donation trailers, cargo vans, or similar equipment
- Experience working in a fast paced environment with frequent lifting, loading, and unloading
- Familiarity with basic technology platforms such as route tracking tools, CRM systems, or mobile communication apps
- Experience working in a nonprofit, thrift, or mission driven organization
