Job Summary
Greet donors and customers with friendly service at the register, donation area, and sales floor. Receive, unload, and sort donated goods to determine quality and usability, then hang, tag, price, and stock merchandise to meet production goals. Maintain cleanliness across the sales floor, donation area, stockroom, and restrooms while ensuring compliance with safety standards and loss prevention procedures. Rotate duties between cashier, donor door, and merchandising based on daily demand. Complete required training, HazMat awareness, and equipment certifications within 30 days of hire. This role contributes directly to Goodwill's mission of Changing Lives Through Education, Training, and Employment by ensuring donated goods are processed efficiently and customers receive excellent service.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic math and reading skills
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Willingness to learn Goodwill standards for donations, pricing, and sales
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull loaded Gaylords/carts up to 150 lbs. with assistance/tools
- Dependable attendance
- Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Basic proficiency with POS, handheld scanners, barcode printers
- Willingness to learn AI-assisted item recognition/price suggestion tools as deployed
- Ability to complete required training, HazMat awareness, and equipment certifications within 30 days of hire
- Must be certified and demonstrate proficiency in at least one duty area
- Must successfully complete the knowledge check quizzes
- Must meet production standards for two consecutive weeks
- Must be certified and demonstrate proficiency in at least three duty areas
- Must successfully complete the knowledge check quizzes
- Must cross-train others
- Must achieve 95% audit scores
- Must consistently meet production standards for 30 days
- Must be certified and demonstrate proficiency in all five duty areas
- Must successfully complete the knowledge check quizzes
- Must consistently meet or exceed production standards for 30 days
- Must be CPR certified
Desired Qualifications
- Previous retail, cashier, or warehouse experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Willingness to learn AI-assisted item recognition/price suggestion tools as deployed
