Domestic Violence Initiatives Intern (Unpaid)

Domestic Violence Initiatives Intern supports the Women & Children Safety Program from Union, NJ in a 6-month onsite internship. Responsibilities include answering hotline calls from victims and referral providers, conducting basic risk assessments and safety planning, providing trauma-informed crisis support, making referrals to shelters, legal aid, hospitals and counseling services, and documenting client contacts. Interns participate in ongoing training for Domestic Violence Case Management Certification, assist with hospital-based protocols including DV and rape kit coordination, and may accompany survivors to hospitals in emergencies. The role involves administrative and call center duties, with opportunities to shadow staff and gain hands-on experience in crisis response, referral coordination, and case management. Certification preparation materials and weekly supervision are provided; internship may be eligible for academic credit or volunteer service hours.
