Job Summary
Provide domestic violence intervention services in the community, including responding to law enforcement calls to offer crisis intervention, conducting on-site assessments, screenings, intakes, and resource referrals for survivors seeking emergency shelter. Collaborate closely with law enforcement and Residential/Community Based Services staff to ensure all services operate under trauma-informed, voluntary guidelines. Conduct on-scene emergency shelter screenings and link victims (and family members) to emergency housing as needed; perform crisis intervention and follow-up to ensure needs are met. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish; complete the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification training post-hire; pass agency background screening.
Required Qualifications
- Some college coursework in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Psychology, related field or commensurate work experience preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Successful completion of a vetting process with the Police Department; includes a thorough background investigation, required
- One year of experience in counseling or professional client support position in a domestic violence agency and/or program setting preferred
- Experience working with law enforcement
- Complete the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification training post-hire
- Prospective employees must pass a background screening to the satisfaction of the agency prior to placement
