Job Summary

Deliver specialist domestic and family violence counselling and therapeutic interventions to women experiencing high-risk trauma. Undertake comprehensive risk assessments, develop safety plans, and provide short-to-medium term case management and advocacy. Maintain accurate, legally defensible client records and collaborate with internal teams and external specialist services. This part-time position involves 68.4 hours per fortnight with an initial 9-month maternity leave term. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling and possess direct experience with DFV specialisation.

Required Qualifications

  • Direct experience providing face to face counselling for women impacted by Domestic and Family Violence
  • Confidence in undertaking complex risk assessments and safety planning independently
  • Comfort working with high-risk and high-complexity presentations
  • Understanding the legal and service systems relevant to DFV practice
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Queensland Open Driver Licence
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card or eligibility to obtain)
  • Eligibility for membership with ONE of the following professional bodies: Australian Association of Social Workers, Australian Psychological Society, Australian Counselling Association or PACFA Member Association
  • Experience delivering specialised counselling and therapeutic support to women impacted by Domestic and Family Violence
  • Understanding of the impacts of Domestic and Family Violence and crisis response in a community-based setting
  • Ability to conduct complex risk assessments and implement safety plans
  • Experience providing case management and high-level advocacy to women with complex needs
  • Knowledge of specialist DFV, legal, health, and community services appropriate for referral
  • Ability to maintain accurate client records, including case notes, assessments, referrals, reviews, and reports
  • Female representation (GENDER REQUIREMENT)
