Job Summary
Petco Certified Dog Trainer responsible for providing world-class dog training services, including one-on-one sessions, group classes, and personalized advice on training goals, nutrition, and supplies. Role emphasizes engaging guests with personalized solutions, maintaining training records, collaborating with grooming and veterinary teams, completing the Dog Training Instructor Program (DTIP) and ongoing training modules, and promoting a positive, collaborative store culture while adhering to safety and operational guidelines. The position requires passion for animal care, strong communication, ability to work with dogs of all sizes, and flexibility to work weekends/evenings/holidays at a Pet Care Center location.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for animal care, training, and welfare
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to handle and work with dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds in a safe and humane manner
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds
- Familiarity with computer systems to manage training records and schedules
- Supervisory Responsibility None
