Job Summary
Petco Certified Dog Trainer responsible for providing one-on-one training sessions and group classes to improve dogs' behavior and well-being, recommending training plans, merchandise, and services to meet pet parents' needs, maintaining training records, collaborating with grooming and veterinary teams for holistic care, and supporting the Dog Trainer Instructor Program (DTIP) pathway. Must complete the DTIP stages, demonstrate expertise in modern dog training and positive reinforcement, and engage guests in a 360-degree approach to pet health and wellness. Role requires strong customer service, safety and wildlife handling of dogs, and the ability to work at a Pet Care Center with flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Pay ranges $16.00-$22.00 per hour with starting rate around $17.00; part-time schedule and store operations responsibilities included.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for animal care, training, and welfare
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with dogs of various sizes, ages, and breeds safely
- Strong organizational skills and multitasking
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Familiarity with computer systems to manage training records and schedules
