Job Summary
Prep, prime, and topcoat light rail vehicles while hand, block, and mechanically sanding car shells for primer and paint. Mask and clean surfaces to ensure proper adhesion, then prime and undercoat vehicles. Perform general equipment maintenance and assist other painters as needed within a high-energy production environment focused on safety and quality. This role supports the fabrication of carbon steel and stainless-steel car bodies for passenger rail vehicles at Siemens Mobility's Lexington, NC facility.
Required Qualifications
- Must be active-duty U.S. Military Service Member who qualifies for participation in the DoD SkillBridge Program
- High school education or state recognized GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing or similar environment in painting or similar materials
- 1+ years of experience in painting within a manufacturing or similar materials environment
- Must have basic English skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, contracted services and other employees within the Company
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and technical documentation
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Candidates should be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment when required
- Ability to lift and/or move items up to 40 pounds is required
