Job Summary

Oversee food service operations in a hospitality retirement community by supervising culinary staff, enforcing sanitation and safety compliance, and managing procurement, inventory, and budgeting. Coordinate menu planning, vendor relations, and special event dining while ensuring meals meet dietary standards for older adults. Lead staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations through interdepartmental collaboration and resident communication. This internship blends hospitality, food service management, and resident care for transitioning service members with backgrounds in galley operations or logistics. Juniper Communities provides certification training and mentorship to support career transition into civilian roles.

Required Qualifications

  • Active-duty U.S. Military Members who qualify for the DoD SkillBridge Program
  • E-5 or above
  • High School Diploma

Desired Qualifications

  • Culinary or food service management education
  • Experience managing high-volume production kitchens with 30+ staff
  • Knowledge of food service equipment and kitchen operations
  • Familiarity with health department guidelines and food safety regulations
  • Understanding of the dietary needs and preferences of older adults
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
