Documentation Tools Manager

Job Summary
Lead a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining the help.okta.com and developer.okta.com content sites while driving the adoption of AI tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude to improve internal stakeholder productivity. Collaborate with Doc Tools leads to develop and implement the Builder Experience roadmap, establish clear priorities and accountability, and recruit new talent to accelerate delivery. Mentor and retain engineers across geographically distributed teams, focusing on technical stack ownership, CI/CD pipelines, and reducing technical debt. This role reports to the Information Development Director within the Builder Experience department, supporting organizations in securely embracing AI infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Have managed software engineering teams with end-to-end ownership over their technical stack and production performance.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex and Claude, with the ability to integrate them effectively into day-to-day engineering workflows.
- Are familiar with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, CircleCI, Vercel and Artifactory.
- Have successfully built high-performing engineering teams.
- Have opinions on topics like build tooling, CI/CD pipelines and technical debt.
- Are comfortable leading geographically distributed teams.
- Thrive on autonomy, and use it to get stuff done.
- 10+ years of experience as an engineer with significant frontend experience.
- 3+ years of experience building and leading a team of engineers.
- Deep understanding of at least 1 major cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- 3+ years of technical management experience.
- Bachelor's in CS, or equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with a documentation team.
- Knowledge of DITA, documentation tools, and writer processes.
- Localization experience.
