Job Summary
Document Analyst responsible for analyzing and indexing incoming documents, assigning appropriate document sub types, and updating keywords and data fields in the claim system. Duties include opening, sorting, scanning, and validating mail; determining indexing criteria to route electronic images; performing cross-system data verification; processing faxes; maintaining scanning equipment and records per retention guidelines; understanding other department processes to interpret documents; updating tracking logs; re-indexing misfiled items; setting priorities for claim handlers; and assisting with procedural documentation and workflows.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required with additional training or college-level coursework in business or insurance.
- Minimum two years general office experience including reviewing and providing specific document types to scanned images.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Basic knowledge of computers and spreadsheet software.
- Basic knowledge of word processing software.
- Ability to proofread correspondence for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and format.
- Ability to work effectively with various business units.
- Ability to be an independent thinker to solve issues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of legal terminology.
- Ability to train and coach others to perform the core responsibilities.
- Knowledge of multi-functional telephone system.
- Ability to multi-task (i.e. interacts on telephone while entering data).
- Previous experience in workers’ compensation field (preferred).
- Experience with medical records, medical terminology and administrative support (preferred).
- Experience with scanned images/document management system (preferred).
- Experience with state/legal documents (preferred).
- IIA Certification Experience in Workers’ Compensation Claims Processing (preferred).
