Doctor's Assistant - Willing to Train!

Job Summary

Facilitate patient flow and assist the doctor in preliminary testing while verifying medical and vision insurances. Operate manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX, or OCT equipment and follow scripting for photos, visual fields, and visual activity. Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers through phone, email, and in-person requests. Clean examination equipment including tonometer tips and perform general office duties assigned by the manager. Work full-time Monday through Saturday with availability for any shift within the 8am-5pm, 7am-2pm, and 8am-1pm schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Favorable result on background check as required by state
  • Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
  • Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs

  • Must be able to practice urgency at all times placing value on a patient's time, as well as the doctor's time and schedule
  • Must be able to facilitate patient flow

  • Must be able to follow scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual activity, etc.)
  • Must be able to clean all examination equipment including tonometer tip
  • Must be able to handle a wide range of duties while using optical equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Optometrist
  • Must be able to embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support
  • Must be able to work Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 7am-2pm and Saturday 8am-1pm
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Must be able to work schedule changes
  • Must be able to work an extended schedule
  • Must be able to travel to other locations

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous medical office experience preferred
  • Previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
  • Excitement to learn and grow
  • Strong customer service skills
