Job Summary
As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will support an Ophthalmologist by delivering exceptional patient care, preparing patients for exams, and conducting initial testing. Responsibilities include verifying patient information, recording medical histories, performing diagnostic tests, and maintaining accurate EMR documentation. You are expected to maintain a clean and organized workspace while upholding a professional demeanor. Required skills include dilation, refraction, and proficiency in using diagnostic equipment. A high school diploma and at least one year of related experience are necessary, with preference for certified technicians. Enthusiasm for patient care and the ability to work flexible hours are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent patient care skills
- Strong communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Desire to gain industry knowledge and training
- Ability to grow, adapt, and accept change
- Commitment to work over 40 hours as needed
- Ability to work weekends when applicable
- Strong fine motor skills and visual/auditory acuity
Desired Qualifications
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is preferred, but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Reliable transportation for multiple work locations
