Job Summary
Dock Worker/Forklift Operator responsible for loading/unloading freight from trailers using forklift or manual methods, ensuring correct items are placed on trucks, and securing freight with airbags, straps, and cardboard. Requires operation of a dock yard management system, reading shipping labels, and completing freight movement forms. Role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and adherence to DOT guidelines, with duties including frequent lifting, standing, and long shifts in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Strong emphasis on teamwork and reliability to support OD’s delivery commitments.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- Working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures
- Working knowledge of freight transportation procedures
- Ability to read and interpret forms used in freight movement (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills, exception forms)
- Ability to utilize dock yard management system to monitor shipment locations
- Must be available to work all times/shifts to meet customer pickup/delivery schedules
- Ability to operate hand held tablets as needed
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 100 lbs, standing up to 8 hours, climbing, bending, reaching, etc.
