Job Summary
Load and unload freight on trailers using a motorized forklift, pallet jack or manually, ensuring correct items are placed on trucks. Secure freight inside trailers with straps, read shipping labels, and complete freight movement forms. Use the dock yard management system to monitor shipment locations, perform various loading techniques, and maintain safety and quality to support on-time customer deliveries. Requires ability to stand/walk for long periods, operate forklifts and perform physical duties in a fast-paced environment; PM shift available in Louisville, KY.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- Working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures
- Working knowledge of freight transportation procedures
- Ability to interpret shipping labels and complete freight movement forms (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills, exception forms)
- Proficiency with dock yard management system and ability to monitor shipment locations
- Ability to operate a forklift and hand pallet jack; capable of securing freight with airbags, cardboard, straps
- Must be available for PM shift and able to meet customer pickup/delivery schedules
- English proficiency; ability to read/write/speak English
- Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work on non-forgiving surfaces for extended periods
