Job Summary
Dock Supervisor leads dock employees and oversees a safe, efficient LTL operation, including dock planning, scheduling, and KPI achievement; participates in hiring and termination processes; ensures proper paperwork handling; communicates with customers via phone, fax, or email; administers parts of the Service Center Business plan; and maintains compliance with safety rules and company policies while working in a high-volume, multi-priority environment and supporting a 50-hour workweek.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Prior management, dispatch and dock experience in LTL trucking
- Must be knowledgeable of the local metropolitan area
- Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring and people-management abilities
- Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus)
- Must be willing to work 50 hours/week, including nights and/or weekends, in any weather
- Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs (or more as required by duties)
- Must be able to comply with company policies and conduct codes
- Must be able to interact well with others and work independently or in a team
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to read, interpret and comply with safety and operating manuals
