Job Summary
Oversee daily terminal and dock operations, ensuring freight is handled, sorted, loaded, and unloaded safely and efficiently. Monitor employee safety practices, conduct regular OSHA and DOT compliance inspections, and maintain a clean, hazard-free environment. Supervise dockworkers and shift teams, assign tasks to optimize labor utilization, and coach staff on safety procedures and operational performance. Utilize internal freight monitoring systems to track shipments and productivity, while reviewing operational reports to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Make quick decisions based on freight volume, communicate schedules, and manage disciplinary actions as needed. Complete required government and company forms, including hazmat documents and manifests. Partner with Operations and Service Center Managers to meet performance goals.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in warehouse, freight, dock, or logistics operations
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and safe freight-handling practices
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in verifying shipments
- Successful completion of new-hire training, including assessments, and forklift test
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Regular and reliable attendance
Desired Qualifications
- Forklift certification or hazmat training preferred
