Job Summary
Ensure dedicated trucks are loaded, unloaded, and processed accurately according to weight requirements, space availability, and freight variety. Fully understand dock freight handling and the duties of both dock loaders and receivers. Load straight-trucks and trailers destined for specific locations while maintaining correct equipment temperatures to avoid damage. Judge freight volumes, cube loads, re-weigh, and generate additional reporting as needed. Set up the dock floor and line up freight so orders can be found efficiently. Read and cross-reference freight bills against manifests to ensure trucks meet legal weights and allotted space. Operate pallet jacks and forklifts safely, reporting any equipment requiring repairs. Work Monday through Friday from 1am to 9:30am in a refrigerated environment, handling loads up to 70lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of forklift experience
- Ability to work in a cold, refrigerated environment for up to 8 hours
- Must be able to lift up to 70lbs
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Positive communication skills as it pertains to interacting with dock staff, operations, and drivers
- Safety-conscious mind-set
