Job Summary
Maintain operational readiness before opening each day by ensuring timely, respectful, and accurate service to customers while anticipating needs and addressing concerns before they escalate. Interpret North Carolina laws and Division policies to guide customers through the licensing process, uphold high service standards, and identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and streamline office operations. Collaborate with colleagues to maintain consistency across regions, participate in continuous improvement activities, and support digital modernization initiatives through testing new workflows and technology. Maintain professionalism in all customer interactions to strengthen the Division's reputation statewide while adhering to the REAL ID Act requirements and completing mandatory background checks.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a valid N.C. Driver License with no suspensions or revocations within the past 10 years in any state for any motor vehicle-related offense and no more than 5 active points
- Must be able to travel during the day and overnight on short notice
- Must be able to report for orientation and first week of employment to DMV Headquarters in Rocky Mount, NC
- Must be willing to submit to a name-based and fingerprint-based criminal history record check
- Must have customer service experience with diverse groups
- Must have experience providing detailed information to the public
- Must have experience working in environments that require interviewing individuals to gather information
- Must have a working knowledge of DMV policies and procedures
- Must have a Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have experience explaining policy, procedure and/or laws to educate customers or the public
- Must have customer service experience (friendly, enthusiastic attitude who enjoys serving customers) with a diverse clientele
- Must have knowledge of basic computer software that includes database programs, Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly adapt to internal systems
- Must have work experience typing using a computer keyboard
