Job Summary
Maintain operational readiness before opening each day by interpreting regulations, Division policies, and North Carolina laws while ensuring every transaction delivers timely, respectful, and accurate service. Anticipate customer needs, recognize and address concerns before they escalate, and provide clear guidance to help customers navigate the licensing process. Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to maintain consistency across regions, identify customer barriers, and recommend process improvements to enhance service delivery and streamline office operations. Participate in cross-training to improve office flexibility and support digital modernization initiatives through testing new workflows and technology.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a valid N.C. Driver License with no suspensions or revocations within the past 10 years in any state for any motor vehicle-related offense and no more than 5 active points
- Must be able to travel during the day and overnight on short notice
- Must be able to report for orientation and first week of employment to DMV Headquarters in Rocky Mount, NC
- Must be willing to undergo a background check which includes a name-based and fingerprint based criminal history record check
- Must be able to explain policy, procedure and/or laws to educate customers or the public
- Must have customer service experience with a diverse clientele
- Must have knowledge of basic computer software that includes database programs, Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly adapt to internal systems
- Must have work experience typing using a computer keyboard
- Must have a Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience explaining policy, procedure and/or laws to educate customers or the public
- Customer service experience (friendly, enthusiastic attitude who enjoys serving customers) with a diverse clientele
- Knowledge of basic computer software that includes database programs, Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly adapt to internal systems
- Work experience typing using a computer keyboard
