Job Summary
Conduct driver license examinations and issue licenses while maintaining compliance with North Carolina laws and division policies. Anticipate customer needs, address concerns before they escalate, and provide clear guidance to help applicants navigate the licensing process. Maintain professionalism in all interactions to uphold high service standards and strengthen the Division's statewide reputation. Participate in cross-training to improve office flexibility and support digital modernization initiatives through testing new workflows and technology. Report for orientation and first week of employment at DMV Headquarters in Rocky Mount, NC, with hotel accommodation provided.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a valid N.C. Driver License with no suspensions or revocations within the past 10 years in any state for any motor vehicle-related offense and no more than 5 active points
- Must be able to travel during the day and overnight on short notice
- Must be able to report for orientation and first week of employment to DMV Headquarters in Rocky Mount, NC
- Must be willing to submit to a name-based and fingerprint-based criminal history record check
- Must possess customer service experience with diverse groups
- Must have experience providing detailed information to the public
- Must have experience working in environments that require interviewing individuals to gather information
- Must have a working knowledge of DMV policies and procedures
- Must have experience explaining policy, procedure and/or laws to educate customers or the public
- Must have customer service experience with a friendly, enthusiastic attitude who enjoys serving customers
- Must have knowledge of basic computer software that includes database programs, Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly adapt to internal systems
- Must have work experience typing using a computer keyboard
- Must have a Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Desired Qualifications

- Customer service experience (friendly, enthusiastic attitude who enjoys serving customers) with a diverse clientele
