DMS Program Director

Job Summary

Evaluate instructor performance using classroom observations, student feedback, and surveys to provide corrective feedback for improvement. Teach DMS classes as assigned and supervise the implementation of the approved course curriculum while ensuring compliance with ACCSC standards and state/federal regulations. Advise students on grades, attendance, and behavior upon instructor recommendation, and coordinate orientation for all new DMS students. Review and recommend instructional resources, conduct regular department meetings with agenda approval, and interface with Admissions, Financial Aid, Placement, and the Registrar. Interview and evaluate instructor applicants, provide training to new and ongoing instructors, and ensure timely completion of student progress reports. Requires evening and weekend hours.

  • Thorough knowledge of the DMS program requirements, accreditation, and approval standards
  • Flexible leadership, coaching and development to faculty members who have a variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to teach from a standardized curriculum

  • Computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population of experiences, personal attributes and backgrounds
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to set goals and prioritize tasks and/or resources to accomplish those goals
  • Effectively manage time and able to handle multiple tasks while completing them within assigned deadlines
  • High degree of integrity and commitment to comply with policies, regulations, and codes of conduct governing all aspects of job responsibilities
  • Knowledge of career opportunities and the expectations of the industry or profession for entry level employees' skills and experience
  • Flexibility to meet schedules that include evening and possible weekend hours
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in the field as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  • Current ARDMS Sonography Certification
