DME/Orthopedic Technician

Job Summary

Fit orthopedic braces, casts, and soft goods; assist physicians with pre-operative procedures, wound care, and fracture reductions. Educate patients on insurance provisions and financial responsibility while recording medical details for billing claims. Maintain clean exam rooms, manage supply inventory, and communicate with patients regarding durable medical equipment issues. Order and follow up on DME orders to meet patient volume and provider schedule needs. Travel to all sites to support DME and Ortho Tech goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to travel to all sites
  • 1 year of orthopedic medical experience and/or DME experience
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and databases
  • The ability to work quickly and accurately and pay attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of health care and medical procedures, including terminology
  • Strong interpersonal/soft skills
  • Strong communications skills
  • Attentiveness to detail
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities
  • Ability to use protective equipment and respond to emergency situations
  • Ability to exert average physical effort
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, as well as push, pull, squat, twist, turn, lift, bend, stoop and reach overhead

Desired Qualifications

  • RI license as a PTA, OTA, ATC preferred, but not required
