Job Summary
Coordinate DME processes, including ordering, fitting, dispensing, and documentation of braces and orthopedic devices. Perform casting, splinting, and brace fitting while verifying insurance benefits, obtaining prior authorizations, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Manage clinic inventory, maintain OSHA and HIPAA standards, and educate patients on device use and rehabilitation protocols. Serve as a clinical resource for providers, support clinic workflow, and assist with staff training.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited Athletic Training program
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) – Board of Certification
- Texas State Athletic Training Licensure (LAT)
- Minimum 2–5 years of clinical experience in orthopedics or sports medicine
- Demonstrated expertise in casting, splinting, and orthopedic procedures, DME fitting and inventory management, clinical workflow optimization
- Advanced understanding of musculoskeletal injury evaluation and management, rehabilitation principles and return-to-function protocols, orthopedic procedures and clinical workflows
- Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance, including OSHA and DME regulations
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with physicians, staff, and patients
- Proficiency in EMR systems and clinical documentation
- Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and decision-making capability
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
- Full manual dexterity required for casting, splinting, and clinical procedures
- Adequate vision, hearing, and coordination for patient care tasks
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and assist patients up to 300 lbs.
- Potential traveling between clinic locations
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Minimum 2–5 years of clinical experience in orthopedics or sports medicine
- Experience in a physician extender or advanced clinical support role (strongly preferred for OPE-C candidates)
- Orthopedic Technician Certification (OTC) or Orthopedic Physician Extender (OPE-C)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and assist patients up to 300 lbs.
