Divisional Vice President, Finance

Job Summary

Oversee financial operations including accounting, tax, external financial reporting, treasury, and vendor relations for all legal entities. Manage the annual statutory financial statements and external audit process while leading balance sheet and cash flow budgeting and forecasting. Direct accounts payable, accounts receivable, and sales audit teams to ensure integrity and accuracy of customer payments. Maintain banking relationships, oversee bank facilities, and manage foreign currency positions. Lead a team of 30+ high-performing employees across five direct reports and serve as Treasurer for the company pension committee and the property company. Ensure compliance with all tax authorities and financial control systems designed to preserve assets and minimize risk.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA)
  • 15+ years of post-secondary progressive experience in finance
  • Minimum of 10+ years management experience in a leadership and people management role
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Working knowledge of specific IFRS policies including revenue recognition, impairment assessment and lease accounting
  • Ability to apply experience and knowledge to create appropriate, sustainable and efficient solutions
  • Ability and willingness to think beyond the basic elements of accounting and have an interest in understanding how they translate to the overall operations and systems
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills with the ability to get things done
  • Encourages growth and promotes continuous learning within the team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
  • Confident and effective communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change
  • Experience in setting priorities, developing work/program schedules, monitoring quality and reporting on program outcomes to stakeholders
  • Experience implementing and/or upgrading finance systems
  • Results driven, ambitious, strong initiative, reliable and excellent problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software (SAP)
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Passionate about fashion and luxury retailing
