Job Summary
Direct macro-level sourcing, product development, and market expansion strategies for EU hardgoods categories while driving growth, maximizing margins, and building competitive sourcing plans. Partner with EU buyers on long-term product direction, quality, target costs, and compliance; organize buying trips, range reviews, and strategic meetings with key executive partners. Build and evaluate a strong vendor network in HK and China, negotiate high-level commercial terms, and provide executive oversight of product lifecycles to safeguard end-to-end supply chain reliability. Lead and mentor HK and China teams, setting clear KPIs, driving accountability, and developing future leaders through succession planning. Proactively mitigate macro supply chain risks and resolve bottlenecks while upholding strict European regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 15+ years of progressive global sourcing, product development, or merchandising leadership experience
- Heavy focus on hardgoods/consumer goods
- At least 5 years in a senior managerial capacity
- Proven experience managing categories across Stationery, Toys, Household, or Multimedia
- Deep, mandatory experience in sourcing operations specifically tailored for leading European retailers
- Solid understanding of the European retail environment, including compliance requirements, safety standards, product lifecycles, and seasonal timing
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success leading large-scale cross-border teams across Hong Kong and Mainland China
- Exceptional written and spoken command of English and Mandarin
- Willingness to travel across China, regional sourcing hubs, and Europe for vendor visits, trade shows, and customer meetings as required
