Job Summary
Lead and grow the Terrace Civil Engineering Division, guiding business operations, team development, and the delivery of impactful infrastructure projects across Northwest BC. Build and strengthen client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand the firm’s presence and services. Mentor a multidisciplinary team including a Professional Engineer, Engineers-in-Training, and Civil Design Technologists, ensuring high-quality deliverables and strong client satisfaction. Shape the division’s strategic direction and long-term growth, collaborating with civil/structural/environmental teams across McElhanney’s offices. Serve as a visible leader within the community, manage project lifecycles, and contribute to financial performance. The role emphasizes autonomy, leadership, and opportunities for career development in Terrace, BC.
Required Qualifications
- A degree in Civil Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or eligibility for registration
- 6+ years of progressive consulting engineering experience, including project leadership and team development
- Experience building client relationships and contributing to business growth within civil infrastructure, municipal, mining, resource, or related sectors
- Track record of successfully leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-quality projects
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, staff, and stakeholders
- A collaborative leadership style, entrepreneurial mindset, and passion for mentoring others and helping teams succeed
