Job Summary
Assist certified teachers in implementing instructional practices, maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment, and communicating with teachers and professionals to ensure quality instruction for students with special needs. Under supervision, support health-related procedures for students with special health care needs (including tube feeding, catheterization, toileting, diapering, lifting up to 50 pounds) and maintain appropriate records. Implement teacher-developed plans and strategies to enhance fluency, maintenance, and generalization of academic skills; assist with community-based instruction; perform routine clerical duties (materials prep, attendance, records, office equipment). Monitor student progress in academic, cognitive, social, and behavioral areas; help maintain student records in accordance with federal/state policy; assist with transportation duties (bus-related support) and supervision in non-academic settings. Requires minimum 48 college credits or Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or an Associate's Degree. Work calendar includes 183 days; position type is hourly/paraprofessional with duties under licensed teachers; lifting up to 50 pounds and safe crisis management training may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 48 college credit hours or successful completion of the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or completion of an Associate's Degree
- Experience working with youth in an organized setting and some instructional experience in a classroom environment working with children and parents with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
